Wood Fairway Golf golf sets I'm in the process of buying a new golf set, Should i replace some of the irons with fairway woods .
Go with the Hybrids. VERY easy to hit - they fly high and land soft.
I bought a #3 Talormade Resue Mid last year and really have not hit a bad shot with it yet. This year I replaced my #4 as well. Very pleased with them.

Fairway Wood Golf What is the point of 7 woods or 7 hybrids in golf?
I have a driver, a 3 wood, a 4 hybrid, and irons from 5-9 then a pitching and sand wedge. I don't see what I would use a different number hybrid or wood anywhere. I can't hit my woods on the fairway because I suck at it so I just use my hybrid for anything farther than I can hit my irons. Should I think about getting a different wood/hybrid?
They're just higher-lofted, more forgiving tools for those that need them. A 7w is roughly 22* (give or take, depending on the manufacturer) while the 7h is ~33*. So really, they are two different clubs- not just in physical characteristics, but their usage, as well.
If you can't hit your woods, there could be two problems (excluding ability):
1. the FW's head is too big. This trend has been getting "worse" lately- where 3 wood heads are getting to be about 190-200ccs. While they make good back-up drivers, they're difficult to use where they were intended... the fairway.
2. the club is too long, too heavy, too stiff, or any other miss-fitted malady (or a combination of them).
You may not have to get a new club (if the head's too big, then maybe), but it'd be more cost-effective to get it retro-fitted to specs that actually fit your game by a custom club fitter.

Hybrid Iron Wood Should i get a 3 iron or is my 3 hybrid good enough?
Ok. I just started golfing about a year ago. I bought a Wilson golf set for $199. I came with a driver, 3 wood, 3 hybrid, 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge, pitching wedge, and a putter. I am going to play on my school's golf team next year. I don't know if i should add a 3 or 4 iron to my set or should i get a new driver. Basically my question is do i need to add a 3 or 4 iron to my set before i get a new driver?
No you do not need a 3 iron and are much better off with a hybrid. Most amateur golfers are getting away from long irons like the 3, even the 4 and using hybrids. Hybrids are much easier to hit and make getting the ball high in the air very simple. If you are going to add another club go with another hybrid. Also it's not the cool thing to do but I bet you could hit your 3 wood off the tee more consistently then your driver and just as far.

Wood Stiff Steel Need a suggestion for a composite wood material?
I am taking on a volunteer project to attach backrests on existing benches at an amphitheater in a community park. I have lined up up a metal fabricator to bend and punch steel brackets to fasten the backrest to the existing 2 x 12 douglas fir benches. I was going to use a 2 x 6 doug fir board as the backrest but now the park director wants to use a composite material (e.g. Trex). I have learned that composite woods like Trex are not as stiff as lumber and will require at least twice as many brackets. The benches are approximately 6 feet long. Any suggestions on alternate composite products I can use?

I have been playing golf for 5 months now and am off a 28 handicap. I am 12 years old. When i swing firm with driver and woods i hit a slice. I am left handed at writing. I had a set of clubs in the garage that were right handed so i went for them. Does having a naturally stronger left hand affect a right handed swing?
