Daycare???
Ok my children's daycare is from ages 4 months - 8th grade. Right now I have a 3 year old, 1st grader, 3rd grader, and a 6th grader in it (the gth grader is only there because I work until 5 and don't want her to be home all that time). The children that are being potty trained are having a really diffcult time so, they decided to remove the doors from the bathrooms. It is legal to do this so I contacted the daycare and there "defense" was that there is both a gilrs and boys bathroom and that the teachers sometimes even use that bathroom. I suggested that they do those doors with a top and bottom, swing doors, curtains, and even doors on 1 or 2 of them. There is always a bathroom aid (teacher) to bring them to the bathroom even if their in the 5th grade so they deffinalty won't get privacy. What should I say to my 5th grader?
It is probably legal,, but that does not make it any less weird for the older kids. If it is traumatizing your older kid, ask if he can use the other restroom (if there is another) and if not, might be time to move him/her to another daycare.
My kids goto a daycare with barracks style bathrooms. Just a huge line of tiny little toilets. However in their case it is all the SAME AGE group in there at a time.
